New Lions Signing Gore to Help Coach Young Vikings

NEW Swinton half-back Grant Gore will begin his coaching career at the age of just 24, combining a role with former club Widnes Vikings alongside his playing commitments for the Lions in 2017.

Gore, who has made 24 first team appearances for the Vikings, will assist Brett Hodgson and work with the club's under-19s squad.

The academy graduate joined Whitehaven for the 2016 season, but continued to work with Widnes' community department and has been rewarded with this youth performance coaching position.

Phil Finney, head of youth at the Vikings, believes Gore will be an asset to his club and Swinton next year: "At a very young age, Grant demonstrated a very good knowledge of the game and was always a leader in the teams he represented with both his words and actions. …
