Mcginty Backers Push for Turnout in Tight Race for U.S. Senate Seat

Urging supporters to drum up voter interest, several Democratic lawmakers stressed Election Day turnout as they stumped Friday morning for U.S. Senate candidate Katie McGinty.

"Find five people and make it your mission to educate them. Take them to the polls," said U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, an Ohio Democrat who appeared alongside five other elected officials and candidates in Duquesne Heights. " .... We all know people who probably won't vote unless you personally make an appeal to them."

About 100 people attended the hour-long rally at the Steamfitters Local 449 office, where state Rep. Bill Kortz, D-Dravosburg, said Ms. McGinty "needs our help."

The Democratic nominee tops her opponent, U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, a Lehigh County Republican, by four-tenths of a percentage point, according to a Real Clear Politics average of major polls.The figure was current as of Friday.
