North Allegheny's three-year reign atop the PIAA tennis world is at an end. So, too, is the one of the WPIAL's longest strings of state championships in any sport in PIAA history.

District 3 champion Harriton of Bryn Mawr, Pa., playing in the Class 3A final for the first time after winning seven state championships in 2A from 2004-10, knocked off the Tigers, 3-2, in the title match. North Allegheny is the only 3A team to win at least three consecutive state titles.

Harriton also ended the WPIAL's run of 10 consecutive PIAA 3A team championships. The previous time the WPIAL had a 10-year run was in girls volleyball from 1986-95 and North Allegheny won three consecutive titles in that streak as well.
