Riverside and Parkersburg entered their game Friday with a lot on the line, the winner keeping its postseason hopes alive and the loser most likely being eliminated. In a back-and-forth affair, the visiting Big Reds got the win they needed, knocking off Riverside 48- 35 Friday night in Quincy.

With the victory, No. 21 Parkersburg improves to 4-5 and closes the regular season next week against rival Parkersburg South, needing another victory. The Big Reds have won three of their last four.

"I told the kids it wasn't pretty and was ugly at times, but we will take the W's when we can get them, Parkersburg coach Don Reeves said. "We will go home, and get ready for South. We have been in playoff mode and our backs have definitely been against the wall.

Meanwhile, No. 18 Riverside lost its fourth game in a row and ends its regular season at 4-6. The Warriors, who entered the year with a 24-game losing streak, had one of their best seasons in many years and are progressing toward their first postseason spot since 2007, but the loss to the Big Reds was a tough one to take.

"Big picture, we are trending up but we have to win games like tonight if we want to be a playoff team, Riverside coach Zach Davis said. "We didn't deserve to win tonight and we have got to get back to work.

Six turnovers did in the Warriors. Riverside quarterback Mark Scites, despite passing for 314 yards, was intercepted four times. The Warriors also lost two fumbles, including a key one in the fourth quarter.

Riverside trailed 42-35 and had possession when Scites hit Gage Lanham with a 40-yard pass. In the open field, though, the Warriors receiver tried to make several moves and fumbled with no defender around him, and Parkersburg's Shane Miller recovered.
