Little Falls Closer to Subscription Busing Program

LITTLE FALLS -- The Board of Education is moving to finalize a subscription-busing policy for students who live within a two-mile radius of school and so are ineligible for state-funded busing.

Upon recommendation by a busing committee, the board has approved the first reading of the busing policy for the 2017-18 school year. Schools Superintendent Tracey Marinelli said a second reading is listed for the Nov. 15 board meeting.

Marinelli said the district will post addresses of each school entrance on its website so families can determine from their front door to the nearest entrance to their respective school, if they are within that two-mile radius.

"We have not discussed the particulars of the subscription busing yet," Marinelli said.

The superintendent said financial aspects will be announced during the process, and "This will most likely be in the spring after we receive the bus bids. …
