Will the Price Be Right at Christmas Markets? ; Festive Traders 'Encouraged to Make Food and Drink Affordable'

THE Manchester Christmas Markets are ready to return for 2016.

Visitors can expect the usual line up of gluhwein, German sausage, mini-pancakes, strudel and German beer, with a few exciting new traders thrown into the mix.

But how much will everything set you back? The market's prices have always been a hot topic. 2011 was the first year that councillor Pat Karney vowed a price freeze, after visitors complained that the produce was too expensive.

This year, a Manchester Christmas Markets spokesman, said: "We do encourage traders to be competitive and when prices have looked to rise in the past we have urged the traders to keep their wares affordable."

Visitors are also advised to shop around different parts of the market to see if there's a better deal to be had, as the traders are free to price their products as they wish. …
