Topeka Bicyclist Remains in Critical Condition Following Thursday Collision with Car at 37th and Kansas

A bicyclist involved in a collision with a vehicle Thursday remains in critical condition at a local hospital, Topeka police Lt. Colleen Stuart said Monday.

The incident was reported at 7:27 p.m. in the intersection of 37th and S. Kansas Avenue.

Police are still determining who had the right-of-way at the time of the collision, Stuart said.

An off-duty paramedic was in the vicinity and triaged the cyclist as code red, meaning the adult male victim had sustained life- threatening injuries. Emergency crews with AMR confirmed that condition once they arrived, said Topeka police Lt. Shane Hilton.

A witness who was in a car that avoided the bicyclist said they saw another car hit the bicyclist, who went flying into the air. …
