Woman Who Tossed Dog on Road Sought

A rail-thin dog abandoned on the side of a road in Paterson is in stable condition at Oradell Animal Hospital, Paterson Chief Animal Control Officer John DeCando said.

Two witnesses allege that a woman in her 30s threw the male dog, which appears to be a Shih Tzu-poodle mix, out of a white Nissan Sentra at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Granite Avenue near Redwood Avenue, DeCando said. One of the witnesses took a picture of the car's license plate and DeCando said he is working on tracking the woman down.

"The dog was thrown out like yesterday's garbage," DeCando said.
