TWO 'dangerous' burglars who knocked down a police officer as they fled the scene of a break-in have been jailed.

Daniel Freeman, 25, of Leamington Street, Spotland, Rochdale, was jailed for two-and-a-half years for burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, assault and driving whilst disqualified at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court. Colin Graham, 26, of Cronkeyshaw Road, Cronkeyshaw, Rochdale, was also sentenced to two years in prison for burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.

In the early hours of Friday, March 4, the two men broke into a house on Linnell Drive, Norden, and took the keys for a Mazda on the driveway and fled the scene.

Police caught up with the stolen car on Rooley Moor Road and initially thought that it was going to stop.

But as one of the officers stepped out of the van, Freeman accelerated towards him, hitting the van door and knocking the officer backwards. …
