In this case, they all helped propel Sarasota into the top 4 percent of Best Small Cities to Live In in America on a list compiled by the financial website WalletHub.

That was the highest rating for any Florida city.

Buoying Sarasota were No. 1 spots for the number of coffee shops per capita, bars per capita and fitness centers per capita (not so great was ranking 537th for income growth among 1,268 cities examined by the site).

Overall, Sarasota scored in the 96th percentile among cities.

The city ranked second for quality of life. It ranked 513th for education and health, 662nd for economic health, 946th for safety and 967th for affordability. …
