ST. LOUIS * Damarcus "Mez" Boyd pleaded guilty to a kidnapping conspiracy charge in federal court here Wednesday, admitting he lured a California man to St. Louis, kidnapped him, and demanded ransom from the man's father.

Boyd, 31, of East St. Louis, was one of three men who lured the victim from San Diego with promises of a marijuana deal, prosecutors said.

A co-defendant, Ortega "Munk Milano" Mitchell, bought the victim tickets on a Southwest Airlines flight on Sept. 24, 2015. The men picked the victim up when he arrived the next day, charging documents say.

They took him first to a fast-food restaurant, then to a house in Illinois, where co-defendant Darius Rose, who was masked and armed with an assault rifle, confronted him, prosecutors said. …
