MICROSOFT TEAMS TAKES UP THE SLACK MICROSOFT continued on its roll of revealing new and seemingly quite useful products this week when it announced an addition to its Office 360 suite of subscription apps.

This time they're taking on Slack with a new service called Teams (pictured above). Slack, you may know, is a group communication tool which allows teams of people to keep in touch privately, and share files and information.

Lots of huge companies - from eBay to the BBC - use it to get over the problem of workers being swamped by email and missing important interna communications.

The Canadian company has seen massive growth - and was valued at the $1bn mark less than a year after it launched.

Teams does much the same as Slack, but offers deep integration with Microsoft's other software, so may pose a threat to Slack's dominance in the market as users will likely seek simplicity if they're already tied into Office products and other Microsoft communication tools, like Skype. …
