Vianney rolls past Jackson, in to quarterfinals

Kyren Williams rushed for three touchdowns and had a pair of TD receptions Friday as Vianney won 49-14 at Jackson in the Class 5 District 1 football final.

Vianney (6-5) also beat Jackson (9-2) by a 49-14 score in last season's district championship.

The Golden Griffins advanced to face the winner of Saturday's Chaminade-Hazelwood East game in the Class 5 quarterfinals.

Blue Springs 49, Francis Howell 14 * The No. 2 team in the Missouri Media Class 6 rankings led 42-0 through three quarters while reaching the state semifinals for the first time since winning the state title in 2013.

The Wildcats (10-2) scored all their touchdowns on the ground, led by three from Michael Warmack.

Francis Howell (9-3) had a five-game win streak ended while losing in the district final for the second consecutive season. Chase Goulet and Alex Jones scored rushing TDs for Howell in the fourth quarter.

Brentwood 39, Hermann 20 * Justice Harris scored three touchdowns as the Eagles won the Class 2 District 5 championship at home.

The Eagles scored 27 unanswered points in the second half after trailing 14-12 at halftime.

Brentwood (10-1) will travel to Centralia next weekend for a Class 2 state quarterfinal.

Garrett Leimkuehler scored a pair of touchdowns for Hermann (8- 4).

Parkway West 42, Rolla 7 * Before this Class 4 District 4 championship at Parkway West, coach Jeff Duncan reminded his 25 seniors how old they were when the program's slide began.

"We lost 23 games in a row through their seventh, eighth and ninth grade (years)," Duncan said. "These guys have been instrumental in turning this program around. "

With the game well in hand against Rolla, Duncan put his senior offensive starters who had been pulled early in the third quarter back in the contest to kneel out the 42-7 victory. It was Parkway West's first district championship since 2006, marking an exclamation point in Duncan's reclamation project with this program. …
