In the Oct. 31 article "GOP Aims to Gain Veto-Proof Majority in Pa. Senate," Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Campaign Committee executive director Joe Aronson blamed gerrymandering for the fact that Republicans hold majorities in both chambers of the state Legislature. But the facts tell a different story.

Democrats claim that since registered Democrats outnumber Republicans in Pennsylvania, the legislative district makeup is illogical.

However, in the November 2014 elections, Republican House candidates statewide earned 229,000 more votes than Democrats. What's more, 30 House Republicans won districts Gov. Tom Wolf carried.

The scenario is similar on the Senate side. In the 25 Senate seats up for grabs in 2014, Republican candidates garnered 202,000 more votes than Democrats, and nine Senate Republicans won in districts that voted for Mr. …
