TRAILHEAD BREWING CO. SPICY CHICKEN WINGS

Yield: 10 servings

5 pounds chicken wings, half drummettes, half second joints

Barbecue rub (see notes)

For sauce

cup (1 stick) melted butter

1 1/3 cups Frank's Original Hot Sauce

cup mesquite-flavored barbecue sauce

2 teaspoons cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon granulated onion

1 teaspoon granulated garlic

teaspoon white pepper

teaspoon black pepper

To finish

Oil, for deep frying

Fresh jalapeo slices, for garnish

Notes: Trailhead uses a custom sweet barbecue rub (brown sugar plus spices and salt) and a custom sweet mesquite-flavored barbecue sauce.
