Authorities confiscate loaded gun at Yeager

A holstered, loaded handgun was discovered by Transportation Security Administration officers in a Charleston mans carry-on baggage as he attempted to clear the security checkpoint at Yeager Airport early Tuesday, according to Yeager Airport police. Dean Santamaria, 60, became the 10th passenger at the Charleston airport so far this year to have a weapon confiscated and a citation issued after attempting to pass through the security barrier while having a firearm in carry-on baggage. We strongly urge all travelers to pay heed to the signage in the airport regarding firearms and double- check their carry-on baggage before attempting to pass through the security checkpoint, said Joe Crawford, Yeager Airport police chief.
