MORGANTOWN - Michaela Abam's long, lofting shot in the second overtime finally broke the scoreless tie between West Virginia and Ohio State's women's soccer teams, and sent the Mountaineers to the NCAA tournament's Sweet 16 with a 1-0 victory Friday at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The Mountaineers (21-1-1) will face fourth-seeded UCLA at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The Bruins defeated Nebraska, 2-0, earlier Friday to move into the third round.

Abam's goal, assisted by Carla Portillo in the 104th minute, was Abam's 11th goal on the season. It was WVU's fourth shot on goal for the match and 26th shot overall.

The Buckeyes (11-7-3) never had a chance in the two overtime periods to break the tie. Ohio State did not attempt a shot after regulation. …
