Michelle Obama made history as the nations first African-Amercan first lady. Being the presidents spouse is no easy job, but it is one Mrs. Obama handled with grace and class. As with any family in the White House, criticism came heavy. Conservatives believe much of the criticism directed at President Barack Obamas policies and decisions was fair, but as always, some of it was not.

Yet Mrs. Obama handled it gracefully, letting her husband, his aides and White House staffers sort things out.

Hers was a transition from Chicago lawyer and mother of two young girls to first lady of the United States. But weve watched her come into her own, advocating for children and encouraging healthy foods in schools, all while looking glamorous and stylish as a 21st century Jackie Kennedy. …
