HUNTINGTON - With a 3-0 start to the season, Marshall will try to continue its uptick Monday night as the Thundering Herd welcomes Jackson State to Cam Henderson Center. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Herd dropped a 58-point second-half bomb on Western Carolina, running away with a 98-63 victory. It was a textbook example of MU hoops under coach Dan D'Antoni - rapid-fire passing, hot shooting, perfect pick-and-roll feeds, lights-out free-throw shooting.

"It was night and day between the first and second halves, both offensively and defensively, said MU's Austin Loop, who scored 17 points. "Obviously, offense feeds off of defense, but I think it goes both ways. When you're hitting shots and you're moving the ball well, there's energy brought to the game.

D'Antoni said, "Hopefully, this will be a step that they see, if we play like we're supposed to we'll be a pretty good basketball team.

"I think once we got moving and got scoring, the intensity picked up all the way around. …
