COLLEGE SOCCER ; WVU's Buchanan Named espnW's Player of Year

A memorable season for West Virginia University women's soccer player Kadeisha Buchanan gained even more sparkle Wednesday. The senior defender was named the espnW women's soccer player of the year. Buchanan, who joins the Mountaineers on Friday to face North Carolina in the NCAA College Cup in San Jose, California, is a four- time Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. That fourth award in 2016 was one of several accolades she has garnered.

On top of the espnW recognition, Buchanan won a bronze medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics as part of the Canadian national team. She once again was named to the All-Big 12 first team, was named to the NSCAA Division I All-Central Region team and was named a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy, given to the nation's top collegiate soccer player. …
