POLICE REPORT

SARASOTA -- A couple was arrested this week and accused of child neglect after officers found five children living in unhealthy conditions in a home with no running water, the Sarasota Police Department said.

Amanda L. Dean and Joseph P. Dromeshauser III, both 34, were taken into custody after officers made a welfare check Monday to a home in the 1300 block of 18th Street, according to police. A school social worker had contacted police, who found five children, ages 11 months to 17 years, living in a home with broken glass and animal and human feces on the floor. Police also said pill containers were open and within reach of the children, and the home was full of trash, clothes, rotting food and bottles filled with urine. A pipe used to smoke crack cocaine was found in plain view.

Dromeshauser said they would go to a relative's home once a week so the children could wash and clothes could be cleaned. …
