Local Musician Recovering Following Attack in Soulard Alley

ST. LOUIS * A local musician has signaled to Facebook followers that he is recovering from injuries received when he was accosted by five assailants in a Soulard alley Thursday night in a "Knock Out Game"-style attack.

"I'm OK. (I'm) alive. I'm just a bit uncomfortable at the moment. Thanks to all of you for your concern. It is what it is," Tom Hall wrote to his fans in a post Friday.

St. Louis police said Hall suffered eye and facial injuries about 7:30 p.m. Thursday after five young men followed him into an alley behind the 1000 block of Geyer Avenue in Soulard.

Hall, 64, told police one of the youths approached, asking for a cigarette.

After informing the youth he didn't have a cigarette, Hall said he was attacked by another member of the group.

Knocked off his feet by an initial punch, Hall said all five men began kicking him as he lay on the ground. …
