Chiefs' Maclin ruled out

Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin will miss his fourth straight game Sunday at Atlanta, while cornerback Phillip Gaines was added to the injury report as questionable with a knee injury.

Maclin (Kirkwood, Mizzou) had been questionable with a lingering groin injury on the final injury report Friday.

The Chiefs also promoted defensive lineman T.J. Barnes from the practice squad Saturday, likely as insurance in case Dontari Poe or Kendall Reyes is unable to play. Poe is questionable with back spasms and Reyes has been dealing with a knee injury.

Gronk has surgery, goes on IR * New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has been placed on injured reserve after having season-ending back surgery.

Gronkowski, who had missed playing time earlier in the season with a hamstring injury and bruised lung, left last week's game against the New York Jets in the first half with what was described as a herniated disk in his back. …
