Joanne Kosar ("Disgraceful Behavior," Nov. 30 letters) says her father's service in World War II was in the name of the "right to vote" and we therefore "have to accept the outcome [of the election]." But what if the outcome is against the spirit of American democracy?

Trumpism seems to violate that spirit in its spokesperson's rhetoric and political appointments. He endorses racism in his demeaning comments about Mexicans and other immigrants, African-Americans and other minorities; misogyny in his denigration of women as sex objects; religious bigotry in his attitude toward and policy proposals for American Muslims; disdain for the disabled in his grotesque imitation of a reporter suffering from chronic joint contractures; and authoritarianism in his claim that "I alone" can make America great again. …
