If that gingerbread house looks familiar, you've probably seen the movie "Groundhog Day."

This year's winner of the Post-Dispatch Gingerbread House Contest is a gingerbread, cookie, cracker and candy reproduction of the Cherry Street Inn, scene of much of the action the repeated action in the 1993 comedy classic.

Sara Kruger submitted the house on behalf of her family members who helped create it, parents Greg and Diane Uhlenbrock, and sister Ashley Langenhorst.

Their re-creation of the inn was actually last year's gingerbread project for the family. This year, they made the house from "The Gilmore Girls."

It is a family tradition to make a gingerbread version out of a well-known house from television or the movies, said Kruger, who teaches at Rohan Woods School. …
