'Fences' Scores Golden Globe Nominations

August Wilson's "Fences" received two acting nominations for stars Viola Davis and Denzel Washington, but was not in the running for best picture in voting by the Hollywood Foreign Press for the 74th Golden Globes Awards.

The movie musical "La La Land," with seven nominations, and television's "The Night of" and "The People vs. O.J. Simpson" were among the favorites of the voters, who also gave nominations to the films "Nocturnal Animals" and its director, Tom Ford, and "Hell or High Water," which came out in August. "Moonlight" and "Manchester by the Sea," both with big Oscar buzz, did well in the movie categories.

Ms. Davis, a Golden Globe nominee for best supporting actress for "Fences," on Sunday night won the Critics Choice Award in that category and received an honorary award as well. …
