More than 1,000 alumni of Pittsburgh Musical Theater's "A Lyrical Christmas Carol" have been invited to join in a singing reunion during the Saturday show at the New Hazlett Theater.

"A Lyrical Christmas Carol" was adapted by Ken and Jane Gargaro in 1991 for PMT's conservatory company, and it has continued each year since, with the exception of 2002.

PMT's "Carol" is a mix of Charles Dickens' ghostly tale of one man's Christmastime redemption, seasonal carols and the music of Bach, Mozart and Vaughn Williams.

"In 1991 I thought it was a good idea to do 'Christmas Carol' since the Playhouse had stopped doing theirs in the '80s," Mr. Gargaro recalled. He used the title "A Lyrical Christmas Carol" to differentiate it from Pittsburgh CLO's "A Musical Christmas Carol. …
