O'FALLON, MO. * Lutheran St. Charles freshman guard Jada Lindesmith went a big way to ingratiate herself to her new teammates Friday.

She drilled a game-tying 3-pointer in overtime and then sank the game-wining free throws as the Cougars won the championship of the Fort Zumwalt North Tournament with a 50-47 victory against the host team.

Lindesmith, who moved to the area from Rogers, Minn., lifted the Cougars (7-3) to their third consecutive championship at the event.

"To pull this off for them, this is great," Lindesmith said. "I'm new here, so to be a part of this, it's a lot of fun. This was a great win for us."

As big as her free throws with 0.4 seconds remaining were, they wouldn't have meant as much had Lindesmith not hit a game-tying 3- pointer with 10 seconds left in overtime as the Cougars trailed 47- 44. …
