BJC to Start Construction of New Creve Coeur Hospital in Early 2017

BJC HealthCare said Monday it plans to break ground on its replacement for Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital in the first quarter of 2017.

The nonprofit health care system the region's biggest employer also released images of the new hospital for the first time.

The Creve Coeur City Council last week approved BJC's plan to replace the 47-year-old hospital as part of an overhaul of its 54- acre campus at Olive Boulevard and Mason Road. On Monday, the BJC board of directors formally approved a design for the new six-story hospital.

The new Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital will have 64 private patient rooms, four intensive care unit rooms and 14 operating rooms, with room for future expansion to 100 patient rooms and 16 operating rooms, BJC said.
