AREA ROUNDUP ; West Virginia Power Hires New Manager

The West Virginia Power will feature a new manager and the return of the 2016 club's hitting coach, as announced by the parent club, the Pittsburgh Pirates, on Friday. Wyatt Toregas will serve as the manager of the Power and Ryan Long will return to West Virginia for the second straight season as the club's hitting coach. The Pirates have not yet decided on a new pitching coach for the upcoming campaign.

Toregas has been the manager of the West Virginia Black Bears, out of Morgantown, for the past two seasons. The 34-year old led the Black Bears to the New York-Penn League title in 2015.

Long is entering his ninth season with the Pirates organization, having previously served as hitting coach of the Bradenton Marauders and Altoona Curve.

Brian Esposito, who managed the Power during the last two seasons, including a franchise record 87 win season in 2015, will serve as a catching coordinator for the Pittsburgh Pirates Minor League System before becoming the Black Bears manager when the short season club begins in June. …
