Q * My wife and I visited your garden recently. In the Japanese Garden there is an area where there are some cypress knees (I think that they are placed in gravel). Are those actually growing there? Or are they just placed there? My wife put them on her Christmas list ... do you know where you purchased them?

A * Actually, we didn't buy them we grew them ourselves. All of the cypress knees that visitors may notice in various locations throughout the garden grounds are generated by, and attached to, the root systems of living Bald cypress trees (Taxodium distichum) growing nearby.
