Great news in advance of West Virginia University Mountaineer football teams appearance in the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando tonight: WVU will have no academic casualties. This means every player has achieved the grade point average necessary to participate in post-season play.

In fact, according to coach Dana Holgorsen, the teams overall GPA is the highest its been since he arrived in 2011 as head football coach.

While many college football fans concentrate mostly on the statistics a favorite football player achieves on the gridiron, a solid GPA leading to a diploma is far and away the most important statistic.

A very small percentage of college football players make it to the NFL or another professional football league. …
