City Issues Condemnation Notice to High-End Wine Storage Business

The owner of a high-end wine storage business, Domaine Storage, is fighting condemnation of the property where the business is based in Midtown.

The city of St. Louis issued a notice of condemnation for the property at 3300 Dr. Samuel T. Shepard Drive on Dec. 16 after an inspection of Domaine Storage's warehouse.

Founded by Marc Lazar a decade ago, Domaine Storage stores more than 1.8 million bottles of wine in five warehouses in St. Louis, Chicago, New Jersey, Washington and Napa Valley.

Last month, Lazar was arrested and charged with two felony counts of selling liquor without a license.

The St. Louis circuit attorney's office alleged Lazar routinely emails offers to sell wine to Missouri residents, but he and his businesses are not licensed to sell liquor in the state.
