Defending champion Cathedral Prep and Canon-McMillan have been in slumps for most of the season, but they have each been quietly putting together streaks that have them back in the hunt for a home playoff game.

Cathedral Prep (4-5-3) is 3-0-1 in its past four including a 5-3 win against then first-place Peters Township in its last game before the break. The Ramblers also struggled out of the gate last year before putting together a long winning streak that vaulted them into third place heading into the playoffs.

Canon-McMillan (5-5-1) also had its problems in the early going, but has won four in a row including a 5-0 shutout of Seneca Valley its last time out.


Most teams struggle moving up from Division 2 to Class 1A, but Indiana has made it look easy.

Not only did the Little Indians (9-1-0) open the season with eight consecutive victories, their only loss is to undefeated Franklin Regional (11-0-0) and they have a victory against a Kiski Area team that is two points ahead of them in the standings. …
