Suit Alleging Pilfered Art Collection Is at Notre Dame Moved to Indiana

A federal lawsuit brought by the son of a wealthy Squirrel Hill banker against the University of Notre Dame alleging that the school is displaying his father's pilfered art collection has been transferred to a federal court in Indiana.

Scott Leff, son of the late Jay Leff of Squirrel Hill, who had been president of Fayette Bank and Trust in Uniontown, earlier this year sued Notre Dame in Pittsburgh, saying the university has long been displaying hundreds of early American Olmec figurines stolen from his father by his ex-wife.

The collection is worth more than $500,000.

Mr. Leff asked that the case be transferred to the Northern District of Indiana, where Notre Dame is located, for convenience.

Notre Dame didn't object and U.S. District Judge Cathy Bissoon on Thursday signed off on the transfer. …
