ST. LOUIS COUNTY > Man shot dead just minutes into new year * Police are investigating after a man was found shot to death inside a home in the 5200 block of Jamestown Bay Court about 20 minutes into the new year.

St. Louis County police are not releasing the victim's name until next of kin is notified, but said in a press release that a disturbance occurred within the victim's home just prior to gunshots erupting and that, "It appears as if the suspect and victim were known to each other."

The victim was suffering from "several gunshots" when officers arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY > Man found hanging from tree identified * Police have identified a man found hanging from a tree from an apparent suicide as a man from Kansas City.

Police characterized Joseph Gordon, 53, as probably homeless, but gave a last known address for him Monday as the 700 block of Virginia Avenue in Kansas City.

His body was found hanging from a tree Saturday near a parking lot in the 2800 block of Netherton Drive.

St. Louis County police responded shortly after 8 a.m., and ruled the death a suicide about three hours later.

Someone captured the scene on a cellphone camera and posted it to social media. By late morning more than 83,000 people had viewed the video, some speculating that the man was a victim of a lynching.

ST. LOUIS > Murder suicide investigated * Police are investigating the deaths of two people in the Dutchtown neighborhood as a murder suicide.

Police arrived at the home in the 4400 South Spring Avenue about 1:35 p.m. Saturday and found a man and a woman dead from gunshots.

Police have not yet released any additional details.
