Closing out 2016, Southwest Florida got some attention for what it often gets attention for -- real estate.

The North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton market was on a list of the "10 Hottest Real Estate Markets To Watch in 2017" from Trulia, the online residential real estate site for home buyers, sellers, renters and real estate professionals.

Under the headline "Glorious in the Gulf Coast," the local market came in at No. 10 on the list.

"While the weather is the most obvious draw to the area, it's much more than sunny skies and 80-degree days that attracts people," Trulia said, going on to quote top Sarasota Re/Max agent Robert Anderson.

"Unlike other Florida markets, this area is a full-time community, meaning that it's not a transient- or vacation-driven community," Anderson told Trulia. "Not only does it deliver on the natural beauty of

its beaches and weather, but it also has the critical infrastructure -- the arts, great schools, small to medium-size companies, small universities -- that (are) critical to making a great community. …
