Restaurant Owner to Fill Seat on Fort Lee Boe

FORT LEE - The Board of Education is expected to approve the appointment of restaurant owner Anthony Papavasiliou to a one-year term Wednesday night because the November election's top vote- getter was deemed ineligible by the executive county superintendent.

Papavasiliou, owner of It's Greek to Me on Palisade Avenue, will fill the seat vacated by former trustee Jeffrey Weinberg, who resigned in October due to a move out of state but remained on the ballot in an uncontested race.

Incumbents Paula Colbath and Candace Romba will also take the oath of office.

Weinberg's resignation invalidated his win, prompting the executive county superintendent to step in and recommend an appointment through the end of the year.

"I'm honored," said Papavasiliou, who was selected from a pool of 13 applicants. …
