Man Pleads Not Guilty to Murder

An East Rutherford man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of murder and kidnapping in the death of a 25-year-old woman who was found critically wounded at an apartment complex she was visiting last month.

Francis Tattoli, 24, was arrested Dec. 18 and charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon, a knife, for an unlawful purpose. His $2 million bail was increased last week when the victim died and the charges were upgraded to murder, felony murder and kidnapping. He is now being held at Bergen County Jail in lieu of $5 million bail with no option to pay 10 percent and be released.

During a first appearance on the new charges Tuesday before Superior Court Judge Susan J. Steele, Tattoli's attorney, Brian Neary, entered a not guilty plea on his client's behalf. …
