On Dec. 22, President-elect Donald Trump urged the outgoing Obama administration to veto a U.N. Security Council draft resolution that calls for an immediate halt to illegal settlement building by Israel on the occupied Palestinian land. The resolution being considered at the United Nations Security Council regarding Israel should be vetoed, the incoming Republican president said in a statement.

As the United States has long maintained, peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians will only come through direct negotiations between the parties, and not through the imposition of terms by the United Nations, he said, echoing statements about the process which have been made by Israel over the years.

Obviously, the U.S. should not have let the problems between the Nazis and the Jews be settled through direct negotiations between the parties. …
