Verizon Pushed to Extend Fios in Woodland Park

WOODLAND PARK -- Everyone in the borough could eventually be eligible for Verizon FiOS cable television services.

The mayor and council have approved a resolution requesting that the cable service provider install wiring throughout the borough so all residents can have access to FiOS services.

Wiring would also be installed for residents who live in the Four Seasons at Great Notch housing complex on the border of Woodland Park and Clifton, if Verizon complies with the resolution.

Borough officials are sending a copy of the resolution, approved Dec. 21, to members of the Legislature who represent Woodland Park, urging them to support it. They also are sending copies to New Jersey Board of Public Utilities President Richard Mroz and Verizon Communications Inc. Chairman and CEO Lowell McAdam.

The governing body approved the resolution in a bid to increase competition among cable providers in the municipality. …
