Area Fighters to Scuffle at Rough N' Rowdy Brawl

Feet will join fists in the fighting techniques at the 21st annual Rough n' Rowdy Brawl this weekend in the Charleston Civic Center Coliseum. "The West Virginia Athletic Commission has granted me permission this year to allow kicking. It will be very exciting, Brawl promoter Chris Smith said.

Bouts will get underway at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 and Saturday, Jan. 14.

Men and women, many from the Kanawha Valley, ranging in age from 18 to 45, will compete in the amateur matches. They will vie for cash prizes, jackets and trophies. Among the local contenders scheduled to compete in ring combat Friday and Saturday are:

This weekend's Rough n' Rowdy Brawl will also include a single- elimination off-the-street kickboxing contest, with $1,000 prizes for first-place finishers in each division, and a ring girl bikini contest, offering a $1,000 first-place prize. …
