Uber in Driver's Seat with New Devils Partnership

The Devils, who pride themselves on innovative deals, on Thursday announced that ride-sharing company Uber would be the official ride- share partner of the franchise and its arena, the Prudential Center, in what the club calls a "first-of-its-kind" collaboration in New Jersey.

The agreement gained the endorsement of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who last year threatened to ticket or tow Uber drivers at Newark Liberty International Airport. Officials at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey -- the bi-state agency that operates the airport -- insisted the city did not have the right to do so. The city ultimately reached a deal whereby Uber pays the city $10 million for the right to take passengers to and from the airport.

"Uber and the Devils together is a win-win partnership for Newark," Baraka said in a statement. …
