Churchill, Monroeville, Wilkins Work Together to Guide Growth Three Towns Seek Input on New Plan

Officials from Churchill, Monroeville and Wilkins have decided there is strength in numbers and have taken steps toward compiling a joint comprehensive plan that will guide growth in the three communities in the years to come.

But before the municipalities take any further steps toward putting such a plan together, they want to hear from residents.

A meeting will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the New Rec 333 Building, 333 Penn Center Blvd. at the Penn Center East office complex in Wilkins.

"The three communities chose to partner to accomplish a comprehensive plan due to a number of similarities, including the fact all three share the William Penn Highway," said Wilkins manager Rebecca Bradley. "Churchill and Monroeville have both felt the loss of Westinghouse. Wilkins and Churchill are both part of the Woodland Hills School District. Monroeville and Wilkins basically share the Route 22 business district."

The communities received funding for the project from the Allegheny County Department of Economic Development and assistance from the Turtle Creek Valley Council of Governments. …
