Guadagno to Launch Bid for Governor

Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno will formally launch her campaign for governor Tuesday in Monmouth County, according to sources familiar with the planning.

Guadagno, who filed paperwork to run for governor last week, will declare her candidacy for the Republican Party nomination at 11 a.m. at La Playa, a waterfront Mexican restaurant in Keansburg, the sources said.

Guadagno, who lives in nearby Monmouth Beach, has spent the last seven years working mostly in the shadow of Governor Christie.

As the state's first lieutenant governor, she was charged with cutting red tape and economic growth. She also serves as secretary of state.

Much of Guadagno's tenure has been spent traveling the state to welcome new businesses or meeting with companies to bring them to New Jersey - or keep them from leaving. …
