D.C. United Takes Depaul Alum in Draft

Eric Klenofsky, a DePaul graduate, was selected by D.C. United in the second round of the 2017 Major League Soccer SuperDraft on Friday.

The 6-foot-6 Klenofsky, the 34th overall pick, was a highly touted goalkeeper going into the draft.

After graduating from DePaul, Klenofsky starred at Monmouth and started 65 games in his four seasons.

"This has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember," Klenofsky said after being picked at the draft in Los Angeles. "I just want to thank D.C. United for having faith in me, and having some belief in me to play at the next level."

Klenofsky, who also played for the Red Bulls' U-23 team, quickly mentioned DePaul while thanking those who helped get him to this point.

"DePaul Catholic, my high school, I owe so much to people back there," Klenofsky said.

Klenofsky was named the MAAC Co-Goalkeeper of the Year this past season after he led the conference with a 0. …
