Rwjbarnabas Health Forms Alliance with Chop

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, world renowned for its specialized pediatric services, and RWJBarnabas Health, one of the state's largest health systems, announced an alliance Thursday focused on children's care.

New Jersey currently has 12 designated children's hospitals, including three that are part of the RWJBarnabas Health system. But teaming up with CHOP, as the Philadelphia institution is known, will enhance pediatric services for the 5 million people served by RWJ Barnabas, said Barry Ostrowsky, the system's president and CEO. It will provide seamless access to the specialists and sub-specialists at CHOP, and enhance research by the system's Rutgers-affiliated physicians, he said.

As a business strategy, Ostrowsky noted that 25,000 babies a year are born in RWJBarnabas hospitals, and the availability of superior pediatric care will help retain them and their families as patients. …
