It is with deep sadness that the family of Albert Eisenkraft of Sarasota announces his passing at the honorable age of 96. Albert was a first generation American child of German parents. His German language skills were put to use in World War II when he was trained in military intelligence and assigned to the 106th Army Division. While on leave during a twelve day stint in Birmingham, England, Albert met his future wife Elsie Hogg; they were subsequently separated for several years by his capture in Belgium and imprisonment in the Stalag 9-B prison camp in Germany. After Albert recovered from his POW experience, Elsie came from England by boat and they were married in May 1946, living a love story that has lasted 70 years. …
