A BASTION of Republicanism, the conservative Wall Street Journal owned by right-wing billionaire Rupert Murdoch, praised departing President Barack obama as a boon for investors. "Obama's Run Will Be Tough to Beat," blared a front-page headline on Jan. 20.

"U.S. stocks delivered far better returns under Mr. Obama than almost any previous president, the report said. "Performance was also well ahead of the rest of the world.

"Stunning yearly earnings averaged 16 percent, and the S&P 500 nearly tripled in value during Obama's era, it said.

"These aren't achievements likely to cut much ice with the Democratic Party, and the perception that the rich got richer at the expense of American workers surely helped Donald Trump, The Journal said. …
