Hit-and-run car found in Sarasota

SARASOTA COUNTY -- A vehicle sought in a Lee County hit-and-run accident has been found in Sarasota and an arrest was made, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to FHP, a moped driven by Kenneth John Roberts, 46, of Cape Coral was struck from behind last week by a car on the Midpoint Bridge in Lee County. The car fled the scene. Roberts sustained minor injuries and was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.

An alert was issued for the fleeing vehicle, which was believed to have body damage.

On Saturday, the FHP located the damaged car in a body repair shop in Sarasota. The license tag for the moped was still lodged in the front grill of the car, an Infinity Q50 driven by Tristan Gendron, 17, of Cape Coral.

Gendron was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury. …
